There is an announcement expected any day, maybe even today.

I predict it will be Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, safe and boring choice, with limited appeal to hardcore progressives.

It should be Labor Secretary Tom Perez, a strong progressive who is still on her short list.

Others on her short list are:

• Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack (safe, boring, but doesn’t help in any swing state like Virginia)
• New Jersey Senator Cory Booker (charismatic but too much like Clinton)

Me, I would have gone with Senator Al Franken from Minnesota.
