Uphold Scripture
I completely agree with the writer of the letter "YMCA's purpose" (April 2) that the "C" in YMCA stands for Christian and the YMCA must uphold Scripture, which is God's law, and our Christian faith, by denying family memberships to gay and lesbian couples (Leviticus 20:13).
But the problems at the YMCA do not stop there. Yesterday I noticed a couple at the Y having a good time. They were obviously slaves and had no business lollygagging at the Y. I call upon Curt Hazelbaker, its president and chief executive, and YMCA management to conduct these slaves back to their master to commence cooking, cleaning and taking care of the master's children, in accordance with Scripture that slaves should submit themselves to their masters (1 Peter 2:18).
Upon leaving the YMCA, I noticed a boy speaking disrespectfully to his father. I call upon Curt Hazelbaker and YMCA management to take this boy to the edge of the city and stone him to death in accordance with Scripture (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). Clearly, that is what Jesus would have commanded (John 13:34-35).
We must stand in solidarity with Curt Hazelbaker and YMCA management to uphold Scripture and our Christian faith. If we start down the slippery slope of allowing even one transgression against Scripture, then people will think that we are just a bunch of hypocrites and militantly ignorant bigots, and that it is us, not the gays and lesbians, who are making a mockery of Christ and the Christian faith.
