He’s going because NY State is trying to get his personal tax records and business tax records. Someone needs to tell him that as long as he receives income from New York, he’s going to pay taxes there and those returns can be subpoenaed.
The darker theory? He is going to nominate Ivanka as his vice president.
Here’s an idea…
But that’s not the only weird Trump news…
A defiant President Trump signaled he will not cooperate with the Democratic Party’s impeachment proceedings, insisting his telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “a good call” and that he might read it aloud to Americans so they can see his point.
“This is over a phone call that is a good call,” Trump, sitting behind the Resolute Desk, said in an interview with the Washington Examiner. “At some point, I’m going to sit down, perhaps as a fireside chat on live television, and I will read the transcript of the call, because people have to hear it. When you read it, it’s a straight call.”
A couple of problems I see here.
First of all, most people (includimg those in the White House) agree that releasing the transcript was a bad idea. Having him read it? Probably not good as well.
Secondly, what will Trump do when it comes to the ellipses?
Thirdly, the evidence against Trump is overwhelming. This Ukraine quid pro quo wasn’t just a single reckless phone call. It was a multiprong several-month campaign to use the levers of American power to destroy a political rival.
This has Don Lemon of CNN giddy:
Spoiler Alert: He won’t do the fireside chat.
